I saw my friend Evan for the first time in many years on Saturday. His new band ‘One for the both of you’ was playing at UNCG. UNCScenesboro. olol. I’m pumped for them to get some music pressed, shit was on point.
Unrelated: Caryn is in town! Mike + Caryn = some fucking ridiculous handheld camera moments.
Related: Wake Radio owns the Speakeasy.
Related (to first statement): Bicycle Day is fucking incredible. Supercargo is my life right about now.
Last radio meeting of the year tonight. I was sad. EP was more so. Growing up fucking sucks.
Why am I blogging so much today? Regardless, Rooftop+Dazzle Ships=better than your shitty night.
Also, just like reading Seneca’s letters over again last year made it frighteningly clear to me how much that pseudo Stoic influenced me in my younger years, burning all of my folk punk for a friend has turned my clock back a good bit. I think I’m going to retreat into romanticism, bikes, guitars, and the idea of North until I become an adult.
Just ran into Jim Jamz at Krankies, he gave me a link to some kind of private BR mailing list and pointed me towards some new shit. Here’s one of the tracks. I didn’t even think he’d recognize me. Turns out he’s about to go on his honeymoon. Get ‘em, Jael.
So last night Bicycle Day, Battle Rockets and Nathan & Patrick played the inaugural free house show at Treetown show space. This is the start of something good. Bicycle Day is sweet and delicious and opened up their home and beers for a large amount of people. Battle Rockets donated their communist flag to the house and rocked our fucking brains out. Nathan & Patrick are twins.
